Toby Keller uses light trails in this picture to interact with the surrounding area, the light trail moves around and over the ruins. This picture must have been taken during the early morning (just before the sun has risen) because you can see the stars are shown in the sky. He took this picture in the dark because he used a very long shutter speed so he could do the light painting. Because of the long shutter speed it makes the picture look like it was taken during the day as the picture is brighter than it actually is at the time. I like this picture because i think that it would have been a good picture as it was but i like that the light trail is also there to make it that bit more interesting.
This picture of a beach looking out to sea with eight lines of light streaking down the picture, the fact it is blue means that it matches with the blue of the sea and the sky. you also get the blur of the small waves coming in and out so the colour of the sea fades from a deep blue to a white. As well as the light trails in this there is also a blue smoke effect in the picture, this element would have been done using a long blue neon wire e.g. EL wire, Keller would have waved this wire around during the picture and it makes a coloured smoke that adds a mysterious element to the picture. I like the effect of the blue smoke and the big landscapes and i hope to show similar effects in my own pictures. |
